"Our mission is to move Clemson forward into the next generation as one family: honoring those before us, equipping those around us, and leaving a legacy for Tigers yet to come."

TIGER TRADITION, OUR FORWARD VISION

PARKING TICKET FORGIVENESS

All students will receive a parking ticket at one time or another, right? Well, we believe in second chances, and we propose that everyone receives a parking forgiveness ticket once a semester! We plan to work on an alternative plan with the parking and transportation department to create the opportunity to donate canned foods or toys in place of receiving a parking ticket. This will serve the greater good in our community, while allowing students a second chance with parking services.

DEAD WEEK BEFORE FINAL EXAMS

Many classes at Clemson assign projects and/or tests the week before final exams. These assignments do not allow proper preparation for difficult examinations and should be avoided at all costs. We believe professors should use the week before exams as a time of review and reflection of the semester's material, not a time to pile on additional work load.

SOLAR PICNIC TABLES

Sustainability has been on the minds and hearts of Clemson students for many years now. We believe that the next step forward is providing solar picnic tables. This will allow students to charge their phones and laptops using solar power, all while enjoying Clemson's wonderful weather and atmosphere.

AGRICULTURAL AWARENESS

Clemson has a deep-rooted history in agriculture, and we believe that agricultural awareness should be brought to every student’s attention. Maddy and Lee took the first step by creating a Director of Agriculture during their term. We would like to see this progress continued with our forward vision of having current and future Clemson students understanding the importance of agriculture.

NO ATHLETIC FEES

We, as Clemson students, have been given the greatest gift in the world- “The Clemson Experience.” Athletics play a huge role in this experience, but putting a price on it is unecessary. As students, we believe it is our duty to stand up and protect our Clemson Experience, ensuring that each and every student can be proud of our Tiger Traditions without it affecting his/her wallet.

ACADEMIC ADVISING REFORM

Some professors do not have the passion for advising that our students desire. A newly implemented advising structure will not only satisfy faculty, but students will also benefit greatly with advisors' helpful guidance throughut their college careers. It is time for this change. We plan on using the student voice to proclaim the need for change in academic advising.

DIRECTOR OF GREEK AFFAIRS

Over the past year, Greek life has gone through many trials and tribulations. Due to this, the relationships between the administration and organizations have suffered. We believe that by creating a Director of Greek Affairs, Student Government will have a deeper insight into these issues and then be able to directly confront the problems. Clemson must work as one unit to ensure we are all one family. A Director of Greek Affairs will embody this motto. We will be using a model from the universities of Florida and South Carolina that utilize a Greek Affairs Cabinet. The Greek Affairs Cabinet establishes and maintains strong relationships within and among the Greek Councils. This Cabinet strives to create greater cohesion throughout the Greek community and inform other students about Greek life. This creates and implements initiatives to improve Greek Life and integrate with non-Greek students. The Director also acts as a liaison between the Office of Sorority and Fraternity Affairs and Student Government.

SUICIDE AWARENESS AND PREVENTION

After the recent deaths in our Clemson community, one cannot help but realize how precious life is and how suddenly it can be taken away. Accidents happen every day and, believe it or not, so do the thoughts of suicide. As individuals who have been affected by death in our own personal lives, we want to ensure that life here at Clemson promotes not only a healthy lifestyle, but also a life worth living. We would like each student to feel appreciated and needed. In order to do this, we must raise awareness of the signs of potential suicide subjects. Raising awareness can help us identify those who are battling the pressures of life, and this awareness therefore allows us to reach out and ensure they are loved.

STUDENT MEMORIAL CHAPEL AND GARDEN

The Student Memorial Chapel and Garden has been in discussion since 1996. The plan is to develop a non-religious chapel on campus to honor the lives of Clemson students who passed before their prospective graduation date. Students will use the chapel to worship, meditate, and remember those we have lost. Through the efforts of a passionate board led by 15 students, $175,000 was raised solely through student activities. $20,000 was donated by the Class of 2011, and additional funds were raised through the Fraternity and Sorority Life's Annual 5K Fundraiser. The chapel is closer than ever to become more than just a set of blueprints. As of now, Clemson is the only university in the ACC without an active chapel. With our campaign, we plan to continue the efforts to build a place we each can go in remembrance of our fellow brothers and sisters who passed before us. To date, there will be over 600 names engraved on the walls of the chapel.  With our suicide awareness plan, we hope to limit the addition of any more names of our fellow tigers.
